Free Range Health is a nonprofit charity providing access to low-cost acupuncture and East Asian medicine to underserved individuals and communities.
Free Range Health was founded by Cole Alexander in 2012. His dream to create a decentralized approach to providing low-cost integrative and alternative medicine services to low-income individuals, homebound patients and their caregivers, rural communities, and native communities is the driving force behind our mission.
With the generous support of amazing individuals and organizations, Free Range Health is on its way to being a model of efficient and effective health care delivery for the 21st Century.
In the past 3 years, more than 400 patients have received over 3500 low-cost treatments at one of the 4 area senior centers hosting a weekly community acupuncture clinic. Treatments have been in the homes of patients unable to leave due to health reasons, and they have been in rural communities where the nearest services are too far to access easily.
We are committed to introducing more communities to the amazing health benefits of integrative health care and to being a model of low-cost, decentralized delivery of medicine for the modern world.
Why support Free Range Health?
COMMITMENT TO OUR MISSION
Your support helps us to deliver our services to where patients and communities need it most. Free Range Health is committed to providing high quality low-cost mobile integrative health care to underserved individuals and communities. This means breaking down barriers to health care for those people who are unable to leave their homes or who have difficulty accessing services because of their income level, geographic location, or transportation needs.
COMPASSION FOR OUR PATIENTS
Your support allows us to help people when they are most in need. With your generosity, we are able to provide relief and healing in a way that honors our patients and their individual situations. We never lose sight of the fact that our patients are struggling with enormous challenges on a daily basis. The inability to leave one's home due to disability or illness can have a profound impact on quality of life. Living on a fixed income and struggling to find the resources to access quality health care can be overwhelming for seniors facing chronic pain and other illnesses.
DEDICATION TO QUALITY SERVICES
Your support means that we will be able to continue providing our services with the amazing providers and reliable systems that our patients have come to expect. Free Range Health is constantly looking for ways to improve how we interact with our patients, our host sites, and our generous supporters. We strive to deliver care in the most efficient and effective manner possible while still maintaining the social interaction and human element that our patients need.
INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO HEALTH CARE
Your support gives Free Range Health the financial stability to be at the forefront of health care delivery in this country. It is no secret that the current model leaves many people with little or no access to services. As we move further into the 21st Century, these gaps will only grow. There is a great need for new approaches to help bridge these gaps and support a population healthy enough to face the other massive challenges ahead. We are seeking to be a part of that conversation and your generosity helps to make that dream a reality.
I began receiving treatment from Cole Alexander in late February of this year. Due to years of pain and steadily decreasing function, I was scheduled to have my (L) knee replaced in the first week of May. Because of the arthritic pain in my knee, I was having difficulty getting from sitting to standing without having to use my arms to do the work. After only two sessions of acupuncture, my knee was pain free and I was able to cancel the surgery. I had also had an issue with pain and hypersensitivity on the bottom of my foot. After about five session, those sensations were greatly decreased. I received acupuncture once a week for seven weeks. The treatment even helped my chronic shoulder pains. I now schedule appointments whenever I "need a tune up", which is usually every three to four weeks. I am now able to function better than I have in the past five years! I am again enjoying walks as well as working in my garden at home. I am extremely grateful for Cole's care. He is very calm and empathetic and is able to focus his treatment according to each person's specific needs. If you are having pain issues, especially chronic, long term pain, I highly recommend you try acupuncture with Cole.
I am a 79 year old patient and I have had (6) six treatments. I highly recommend using acupuncture treatment for two above medical issues. My knee pain & stiffness have greatly improved. I am once again able to walk & play golf with very little discomfort.
I have had asthma since childhood. My asthma has been controlled by using prescription drugs. Acupuncture treatment has dramatically reduced my use of these drugs.
I will continue acupuncture treatment whenever I feel it is necessary.
I have had three weekly acupuncture sessions with Dr. Alexander for my sciatica pain and the pain is now gone.
The 1st session - sciatica pain returned but not severe.
2nd session - sciatica pain returned much less.
3rd session - sciatica pain now gone.
My energy level is super, allowing me to return to an active lifestyle. Thank you Dr. Alexander.
I am totally satisfied with the treatment I have received. I have had pain in my left SI for 4 plus years. I'd tried PT, massage and Chiropractic care but it did not help. After 2 sessions I was pain free in that area. I did have to have another session after my husband taught me how to run a weed eater but it's feeling better again. I am currently trying herbs and acupuncture to help my insomnia. I am a very happy patient!! I have been recommending to everyone I come in contact with.
I have received acupuncture for the last couple of months for my feet and also TMJ. When I started my jaw hurt so I couldn't chew meat and it made a popping sound. It is so much better now and only hurt occasionally. My feet are improving also. I think acupuncture is a good solution to many health problems. I would and do recommend it to anybody for all kinds of ailments.
For several years I had numbness on the lateral side of both legs. After 2-3 acupuncture sessions I began to feel results. Now it is all most gone. At night I still feel a little numbness. Also I had severe pain in my neck and I had developed spasms in a muscle "trapezius" on the left. After 2 treatments I now only have an occassional spasm. I am very pleased with Dr. Alexander.
He was professional in his explanations of the procedures that he was performing and also very detailed. I have recommended him to my friends and will continue to do that.
Thank you very much for giving me the proper treatments. In 2013 I started taking acupuncture by Cole Alexander and Kristan Rutski. Cole Alexander instilled his medical training and experience for new patients. I have been very happy with the results. A history of nerve damage on both feet, has been alleviated by proper treatments. Also, due to right shoulder pain caused by over used during my work situation, Cole and Kristan has reduced the pain quite considerably. I plan to continue my treatments.
P.S. I've cut back on same pain pills as prescribed by my doctor.
I am very pleased with the treatments I've had. I have very little or most of the time no pain in my knee - which a doctor previously recommended a knee replacement, that I don't want at my age.
